This part of Lomagne is close to places that kept rich history and traditions : Auvillar in old times very known for its crockery , its port, St Clar known for is garlik market, Lectoure for its “blue pastel”, and of course Miradoux, the oldest walled town of Gers (Due to active 100 years war in South Ouest France). |

Miradoux at the beginning of middle age was a simple observation tower ; that explans its names coming from the latin “mirador” (Observatory point). This place was strategical for controling entrance of Lomagne region. The walled town was founded in 1253 by a Lord of Miradoux and is the oldest of Gers area. Actual church replaced the castle since century 15th.. Church tower has been suffering when town was under siege due to a rebellion in 1642. Bombing cut its top part. Some remparts of the old walled town still exist. Now a days, Miradoux is a village of 600 people. Main activity is agriculture, specificaly cereals, and also some cattle breeding. Turism is mainly due to the position of this village on the way of Saint Jaques de Compostelles. (GR 65). Some holiday cotages warant bed and food to pilgrims. |

Originaly, only the canal passing under the water mill was existing. Other canals did not exist, there were only areas of evacuation of exess of water. |
